As angus.black said, the Cam Plus 14 day trial shouldn’t require a credit card at all. It even auto-cancels itself after 14 days. It just shows up when you setup a new camera (you would have to delete the V3 from your account, then set it up again to see if it will give you the trial). The problem here may be that your MAC address was initially associated to a 3mo free trial which DOESN’T automatically cancel itself and MAY require a credit card. That might be gone since you already denied it the first time around, but it’s hard to know how that variable affects the situation.
The other concern is that usually the 14 day free trials, if you did get it to load this time, probably can’t be removed early. In the recent past, the only way to get rid of them is to either let the 14 days expire and then it goes away, or to delete the camera and go through setup again and deny it the second time through…which defeats the entire purpose of trying to add cam plus and then switch it to Cam Plus Lite.
This has to be some kind of oversight or bug though since other people are able to use Alexa Person Detections with Cam Plus Lite.
Ugh, which probably neatly aligns with my return period. Thank you for the effort and advice, @angus.black and @R.Good and @carverofchoice . All I know so far is that when I did try to succumb to the CamPlus trial it insisted on a credit card before moving forward. I guess I’ll do a reset and try again as you all suggest.
Ok so I got anxious… I was able to goose this camera a bit. I added a Cam Plus License to it, went into Alexa and all was right with the world. Live View Supported message gone and able to turn on person detection in Alexa/
I then removed the Cam Plus license, added the Camera back to Cam Plus Lite and the Live Stream not supported message was gone but the ability to Detect Person in Alexa was no longer available.
I closed both Alexa and Wyze, went back into Alexa and Live View Not supported has returned BUT the ability to turn on Person Detection is now available.
Jumped in Front of the Camera and 10 seconds later, Alexa announced that a person was detected at the Camera name.
Some hours later, after a few hours of sleep (I think)
The live view not supported on this device has gone away again and person detection is no longer an option. No changes were made to the settings since the last update when PD on Alexa was working.
FWIW grabbed a log from the cam and posting here
LogID 861674
Wanting to observe, if the cam detects a person do the settings go back? Is there something triggering this or is it a problem with CPL and Alexa understanding the applied settings and I got caught in the time it takes for Alexa to update what license is applied and what capabilities are accessible based on the CPL license
Ohhh wow! I felt like I was really stretching with my trigger comment above, but… My Alexa device announced that a person was detected at the camera a minute after I walked into my office
Live view not supported on this device shows again and the Person Detection option in Alexa is available again.
No setting changes, just a person walking in the door. Somehow there is a wire crossed and this is getting triggered
I don’t understand, can you please post this exact video event recording so we can try to give feedback if a different, more energetic dancing is in order? Maybe it will help.
I have this same issue, I had to reregister a v3 cam, It had a routine under CPL, I reset cam, Added back to CPL license, Remade the yard cam routine and it Refuses to activate person detection with routine trigger even with person detection turned on.
Not related to the PD but more of an observation of issues I am seeing with Alexa. You used to be able to tether an echo dot to a Firestick and use voice commands to open the Wyze Cams via the Dot or control the Firestick via the dot without the remote.
I tried to do this with a new dot and Firestick and I keep getting “this device does not support that”
It works on the other devices I setup in the past, just not the new one. I even let it percolate.
Amazon def has some things going on, and of course the AI department has taken a hit with the layoffs.
more wyze changes than alexa I believe, Before V3 pro and plan changes, never an issue, they are tightening freedom and hate I wasted money on these devices. I’ve got RTSP backed up, Got two new V3 in the box, don’t even want the aggravation of the wyze/alexa issues now.
Thanks for posting it but I don’t expect much to come from it.
It’s not accurate for me, my newest activated camera and two cameras shared with me, all V3’s, have no issue with Person Detection triggers in Alexa.
My old V2 and Pan V1 cameras have PD triggers disabled but the triggers I set up two years ago work, sometimes.
