Landscape View For Tablets

I don’t know the status is of this, but I also want the app to work in landscape mode as all other apps I have do. It is very cumbersome to move my iPad into portrait mode just to open and view the app. Hopefully this will be done soon. Thanks

I just upvoted this landscape feature request. Looking through the long history of this thread, I see it’s been a hot topic for over a year. At what point does your product owner prioritize this for the roadmap? Does Wyze have an agile development process with a backlog, sprints, epics, releases? Just looking for a sense of where it sits in your 2Q or 3Q planning.

Especially for extremely common UX/UI features like landscape mode.

They just committed $10 million to rewriting this app!

This is something we intend to add later. But it’s going to take a lot of reworking of the app due to how we implemented things when we were first starting out. We’ve learned a lot since then! But it also means that some projects take a lot of resources to implement because there’s some missing foundation. This is one of those projects.

Hi @WyzeGwendolyn!

Would really like to see this in the near future, both from a practicality and accessibility point of view.

If it requires a major rework in how the app is designed, I really hope these features are also considered during that redesign process:

Estimated time please. This lack of landscape view is a major shortfall.

I’m sorry, I don’t have a time estimate due to how large an undertaking this will be.

While I’d like to have the entire app support landscape mode (especially with the Band, Scale, Lock, Lock Gateway all adding many more items on my main screen), I’d be happy if I could just leave my tablet in landscape position, select the group of cameras I want to watch (from the list which would be sideways) and then have the camera group display come up in landscape mode. The app already supports landscape mode for the group camera display, so that wouldn’t take any redesign. You just need to add a check when opening the camera display to see if the tablet is already in landscape mode and if so, to start the display in landscape mode without me having to rotate to portrait mode and then back to landscape mode. That part should be very simple!

Thanks for letting me know! I’ll share this with the team. I’ve learned that some stuff is less simple than one would hope (or expect) when it comes to the dev work but I’ll make sure they can consider it.

Landscape mode for Android Tablets PLEASE!

Thread started Nov 2019 and it’s only got worse: how is Wyze listening to it’s user base when 9months later it’s still BROKEN.

I didn’t put up with Yi cameras when they did this, your losing your base. You didn’t listen with the outdoor camera either and yet here we are.

Wyze summary emails should be time zone specific and have dark mode automatic.

Why don’t you listen?

If you’re referring to Landscape view for tablets (topic of this thread), the request goes back much further than November '19. It was added to the Wishlist in November '18.

Edit: typo

Absolutely True… I like the company and hope that they succeed but communications and actions need immediate attention. I, for one, hope that it’s not arrogance that is at fault… They got funding and customers based on a promise that has yet to be filled.

The wishlist… A fictional trash bin for ideas not warranted to have merit… Or me thinks so anyway.

My Wyze summary email brought me here and yes it applies to landscape view topic as I use many devices and none are correctly fixed.

It’s not that hard to program time zone specific call outs to different time zones and have dark mode enabled to cater to paid users of products.

Nor is it re-inventing the wheel of dark mode for websites which was decades ago.

@WyzeGwendolyn Hi, Looks like Nintendo beat you guys :(.

For tablets too? The issue at hand, for this long-standing Wishlist item anyway, is that the Wyze app doesn’t have app-wide support for landscape mode for tablets, iPad in my case.

I have never had any trouble viewing video in landscape orientation, However the actual graphical user interface, the menus outside of viewing video, all the menus show only in portrait orientation, so if for example I am in my web browser with my iPad sitting on the desk in landscape orientation and I want to jump over to my Wyze app, I would have to pick up my iPad and turn it vertically into portrait mode because the menus in the UI do not turn to landscape orientation. What I’m asking is for you guys to update the app so the rest of the app supports landscape orientation, not only during video viewing.

Correct, that’s what I’ve been referring to as app-wide support for landscape mode (ref. previous post above). Thanks for adding your name to the growing list of iPad owners who generally love the cameras, but have begun hiring chiropractors for post Wyze app treatment sessions.
