Does anyone know any information about the new cam that is coming out at the end of the month? It appears there is going to be AI technology in the camera to help recognize which objects to send motion alerts for. Does anyone plan on pre-ordering it? There are no object recognition features in the initial release of the V2. It is possible that’s coming down the road with a firmware update, but nothing has been officially released about it. There is also no motion masking available (yet) in the V2, but that too may possibly be coming with an update.

The main improvements in the V2 are improved video and audio quality and motion tagging, in which motion detected by the camera is highlighted during live stream and playback.

Will I need to buy the V2 camera to get the updated video/sound image or will there be an update to the existing cameras?

There will still be some firmware improvements pushed out for the V1s, but the video and sound improvements took a hardware change to implement, so I don’t think we’re going to see changes of that nature for the V1s. That said, the V1 is still a very capable camera. I don’t think you need to replace them unless you have a very specific need for better video or sound quality.

Thank you for the input, Rick. I agree, I do not think I have to change my camera yet to V2. The current one is pretty good quality. I just took this pic about 2 mins ago and it looks pretty good from what I can see.

Well, I ordered the original last week. Came in today. Now I see there is a V2. I would have waited for the V2 had I known. Relationship isn’t starting off in the right direction. ;(

If you call the company, I’m sure they will work with you to get you the V2. They have good customer service. When I call their phone number, I am usually on hold for the first 4 min, but they are very knowledgeable.

There’s a 30 day return policy for unused cameras.

Unfortunately, I didn’t see the V2 until I went on their site to see how to do the setup. Already opened one up.
