Please confirm if you have SD cards installed in your cameras or not.

8 of my 10 V2’s have SD cards and my pan has an SD card

Thanks. This is helpful for troubleshooting.

I have 4 cameras in two separate locations. The ones on Xfinity are the ones that give me problems. They connect, show video for 2-3 seconds then freeze or disconnect. They always push video alerts fine. Once in a while I try to live stream and they connect and actually stay connected… or the connection lasts 5-10 seconds. This started happening about 2-3 months ago. Before that it was rock solid. I tried troubleshooting but Wyze said I had to open up a port that had the Xfinity people scratching their heads. Even tier 2 support had no idea what I was asking them to do. In the mean time, my 4 cameras on Metrocast in Maine are working fine. Go figure. My guess is something is not compatible with some of the Xfinity products. (I had Xfinity come down and update my modem also… didn’t solve the problem).

I am running mine on Xfinity, however I did turn off the wifi in their combo modem/router and installed my own router. I have not had wifi issues since I did that.

Hmmm… maybe I’ll try that. Good idea!

2 cameras here and the one with the SD card won’t upgrade, the one without a SD card updated fine.

Quick update, I removed the SD card from the camera and it upgraded to the latest firmware perfectly.

Odd, but you are not the first I have heard that solution from. Glad it worked for you!

When my cams were new, IIRC they prompted new firmware was available and to remove the SD card prior to updating. I forgot to remove the card from one cam - update failed. But then some cams without an SD card also failed once or twice - then updated. Seems inconsistent.

I have since updated cams remotely without removing the SD card which worked fine.

Wyze troubleshooting Step #2 says to remove the SD card.

Difficult to impossible with remote cameras.

I’m curious if disabling the local recording while trying the firmware upgrade may help. I don’t know for sure if it would, though.

I followed this procedure and it can be done remotely. Using the app, first I formatted the SD card. Then I restarted the camera and made sure the card showed the format was completed by checking the amount of data written to it (mostly cleared). Then I ran the firmware update, one camera at a time. Each update was successful.

For what it’s worth I always update all of my cameras, 9 V2’s and 1 Pan, all with SD cards all using continuous recording with no issues. I do have 1 camera daisy chained to another and those 2 I update 1 at time. The others I update from the firmware update page.
