Wyze Cam Pan only starts recording at the tail end of detecting motion

Hello all, I just received my Wyze Cam Pan in the mail, and I don’t know if I’m missing the point, or if I have something misconfigured, but…

Well, here’s what I expected a security camera to do:

Upon detecting movement, immediately push a notification and start uploading footage to the cloud while tracking the moving object, in a format that’s still readable if the transmission is cut short.

And here’s what my camera is actually doing:

If I dance for 5 minutes in front of it, it moves to track my movement. No notifications. No footage uploaded. When I finally exit its field of vision, I get the note in my cellphone, with a clip of myself leaving and then 9 seconds of nothing.
Needless to say, an actual intruder can take its time clubbing the device, yanking the power cable, and there’ll be no evidence they ever did anything.

What gives?

I think this may assist you in understanding how the Pan works, including recording events and notifications. Please let me know if you have any questions.
