Why was Android hardware decoding removed?

my device appears to be among those for which performance is dramatically improved with V2.5.36. Lucky.

Tried it out:

Wyze app 2.6.42
Firmware 4.9.5.36
Android 6.0.1
Nexus 7 (2013) tablet

1 – Livestream video/audio is virtually lag-free (~1 sec) and roughly in-sync.

SD Playback video/audio is inconsistently out-of-sync: audio sometimes early, sometimes in-sync, and sometimes quite late.

Hi everyone, for those of you still having video lagging issue, I want to ask you a favor and invite you to test an Android app V2.6.371. It has a toggle to switch between software and hardware decoders on livestream page. We also added more rendering logs if you send us an app log.
