Ah, the Outdoor Camera mount.

I don’t think it has much of a purpose, unless they are trying to make sure you don’t screw down screws on the large hole side of the screw slots.

It does offer a tiny bit of support for the camera base when it is collapsed, and a tiny bit of resistance to the twisting of the camera mount arms. It also mimics the magnet holder on the V2 and V3 visually.

But I think it is probably just there to cover the larger side of the screw holes.

Its just a little bumper to stop the top from hitting the plastic too hard. I bet you could slip a magnet under that rubber bit though.

An optional magnet at the bottom of the articulating plastic base would be handy (as long as there’s a piece metal to mount it to).

The Outdoor Camera has a magnet at the top of the base. I think they intended for the base to stay screwed to something, with you popping the camera off the top of the base whenever you need to recharge it.
