V3 sd card not recognized after power off or reboot. Have to re-insert for it to find it… anyone else?
I didn’t have that particular problem, but the SD problem I have may be related. I tried two different 64gb cards that work perfectly in my V2 cameras, but when installed in the V3 they don’t show up at all. A 32gb seems to be fine
Yes, I do know that 32gb is the stated limit, but the 64’s work perfectly in my V2’s
Mine are all 32
- Check the disk with the command line C:\Windows\system32>ChkDsk X: /r Where X is the uSD card
- Format the uSD card FAT32 and un-check the default “Quick” option so it can mask out bad cells.
Note: The Format from the Wyze App is a Quick Format
Quick format just marks the partition as “formatted” and destroys the journal that keeps tracks of the files and their locations on hard drive.
Full format will clear files completely from the partition, rebuild the file system, volume label, and cluster size, and scans partition for logical bad sectors; that’s why full format is slower than quick format. Wyze devices must always use the FAT32 format.
- Preferable to use High Endurance cards in your device.

Just ran into this today. Cant get anything higher than a 32 to work in any of my V3s no matter what I tried.
Waiting on amazon for new ones now because I was just swapping cams and all of my V2s have 64 or 128 gig cards.
If you run into problems, recomend using This Standard Program to format.
If consistent that’s going to be a deal breaker for some people.
This program formatted card to exFAT despite it not starting that way
Didnt work in V3 but works in a V2
Didn’t work for me either. I received 2 V3 today and unable to get them to work with my sd cards that were in my v2 even after trying the software above to format SD card. Hopefully someone comes up with a fix soon.
Have you tried formatting them I’m your V2, then install them in your V3?
Just tried it with no success. V2 has no problem reading or formatting it, but V3 will not detect it.
I was able to get 64gb cards to work by formatting them with this program
I’ve had no luck with anything else.
I formatted a 64 GB card that I had in a v2 before unplugging it , then removed the card from the v2 and put it in the V3 camera, it has been functioning properly for 3 days now
Thanks Joedel263! It’s working finally! I formatted the SD Card with Download FAT32format GUI (GUIFormat) 220.127.116.11. When i inserted to V3 it would still not recognize, but once I restarted the camera through the app it would recognize it. Hopefully it helps someone else.
I’m having similar issues. it’ll recognize it at first but then after some time it stops recognizing. I’m using a sandisk 32gb formatted in the camera.
Just installed a new Sandisk 64Gb uSD card in my V3.
Checked in my workstation first and found the factory format was already FAT32.
Will let you know when/if it fails but so far (knock on wood)
After reformatting with Download FAT32format GUI (GUIFormat) 18.104.22.168 my 2 v3 have been working fine with SD cards. I have 128GB Samsung sd cards I got from amazon in each of them. Almost 24 hours without issues. So far so good.
Installed 32gb card in my new v3. Formatted it via the app. Was able to see that the camera had recorded events to the card and watch them via the app.
Next day, go to View Playback for the v3 on the app and receive message, “No micro SD card installed in camera.”
Remove 32gb card and replace with another new 32gb card. Format card via app. Confirm the v3 is recording events to the card. Later that day, go to camera in app and select View Playback. Received same message, “No micro SD card installed in camera.”
I don’t think this is a problem with the SD cards. The problem is the v3 camera.
That’s my same exact experience!
I ran into that issue when I tried using some cheap Micro SD from Walmart which was their Onn branded. Worked great in Raspberry Pis, but not great in the Wyze cams. Switched over to Sandisk Ultra and haven’t had the issue, even in my V3s.
