I’m not interested in being able to continually monitor the video. i just want to be notified if there’s sound or motion. Was thinking about getting a prepaid hotspot and trying to connect to it ( I’m not sure if there’s data usage if it’s on but if there is I’ll go a different route).
So has anyone connected to just a mobile hotspot?
While I haven’t personally checked, I have gleaned from other comments that it will regularly ping out to AWS to confirm the Internet is still alive. Also, it will obviously use data any time it sends a video recording out. However, I don’t believe it will otherwise use copious amounts of data just sitting there. If it did, I would have probably noticed with my crappy DSL connection.
