Powering off camera privacy

I have a camera set up at my dads house to keep an eye on him. While there I use a power strip and shut it off . The cam is shared with 2 others. Is there any harm in doing this? Seems like nothing is affecting it (pan cam) so far. More for privacy than anything else. Thanks. RY

I’ve read here that people use “smart plugs” to turn power off completely to the Wyze cameras, so that’s not really different than a power strip.

If you use an SD card in the cam to record footage locally it may - or may not - affect the integrity of the SD card file system if you simply power-off. Your mileage may vary (YMMV).

I’ve had no SD problems I can attribute directly to this and continue to power-off by pulling the plug without precautions but it’s worth keeping in the back of your mind in case any cam/card squirreliness crops up.

Way OT, but your avatar pic resonated with these for me:

It’s a lotus.
