I installed a total of 10 Wyze light switches in my home. Unfortunately, I’m having issues with one of the switches. The switch powers on and off just fine (the white status light turns on when I press the switch), but it won’t turn on any lights I screw into the light fixture. The light fixture works just fine, seeing as I reinstalled the original light switch and it powered the light bulb on and off just fine. I’m not even able to power on and off any Wyze smart bulbs from that light fixture because the Wuze smart bulb disconnects when I screw it in. I’m wondering if maybe I have a defective Wyze Switch. All of the other 9 Wyze switches work just fine.
Could be defective. However, did you make sure your settings for single press it set to Classic Control? This will ensure you can use the switch like a regular switch. Looking at the basics first.
Then set a Double Press to turn on a Wyze Smart Bulb to see if that works.
Thank you for your contribution to this forum. You seem to reply to most of my topics Unfortunately, your suggestions didn’t work. I have one Wyze switch that I haven’t installed yet, so I’ll try installing it. That will confirm whether I have a defective switch, or not. Thank you.
Not a problem, was eliminating the obvious first. If you have an extra switch , definitely try that. Would be interested if it works out.
It looks like the Wyze switch has some sort of a short circuit. I unscrewed the switch from the wall, and when I turned the power back on, the Wyze white light bulb (classic version) turned on. But, I wasn’t able to control the light bulb using the switch or the app to turn the bulb on directly. When I first installed that Wyze switch, it flipped the breaker as soon as I turned the power back on. I found out that it was an exposed wire coming in contact with the ground wire. I wrapped the wire in electrical tape, and it worked just fine ever since then. But, recently, I updated my wireless router and had to manually add all of my Wyze devices back onto the Wyze app. Ever since then, that particular switch hasn’t worked. I’m wondering if the switch was damaged when it kicked the breaker? As soon as I get a chance, I’ll install the other Wyze switch and let you know. Thank you.
Well, I figured it out. The load wire snapped 😮💨 I didn’t notice because the load wire was still pushed in the slot. When I pulled on the wire, it came right out. I was going crazy, trying to figure it out. Thank you for your help.
Sorry to hear that, hope you can fix that. Thanks for the update.
Thank you. It’s okay. It’s an easy fix. I just have to strip a little of the wire and screw it back into the load terminal.
