I recently received my HMS starter kit and I have everything setup and running in test mode. I placed the motion sensor in a couple of locations and seemed to be getting false movement entries for the sensor. I moved it to a location in my house and set a rule to trigger a nearby camera if the sensor detected motion, which it did, but the camera didn’t show any movement. (I have motion tagging on for the camera.) I put the sensor back in its box and still got messages showing movement.
I engaged in a chat with tech support and the solution they came up with was restart or reinstall the Wyze app on my phone. I pointed out that the HMS hub was being triggered regardless of the state of the app on my phone.
So, my question is this: Am I missing something about how the app works with HMS? Doesn’t the sensor communicate directly with the HUB? If the sensor erroneously detects motion, isn’t it going to trigger an alarm regardless of whether I’m running the app on my iPhone or even if the phone is off? My impression is a faulty motion sensor but I don’t seem to have any way to convince Tech support to replace it. The other problem is that the issue is intermittent. It isn’t a signal issue either since I get the errors when the sensor is only a few feet from the hub.
