does Wyze Cam always have to record to the device I.E. phone/tablet? Can that function be canceled?
The cameras never record to the phone unless you press the record button.
If you want to disable recording of clips to the cloud (which appear in the Events tab of the app), then go to the camera settings and disable motion/sound/smoke/CO detection settings.
If you wish to record continuously, but no to the phone, you can install a microSD card in the camera:
