Any chance that a rodent may have started chewing on it and got blown off its perch when it encountered the copper wires, whereupon it fell into the dogs and was conveniently eaten by them leaving no trace of itself?

Two rodents causing identical damage on two different cameras ??
The power supply should be only 5V - and should shut down if it detects a short circuit.
That sort of damage needs more than 5V
