I signed up for the 1 Month free. Gave them my CC & they charged me $1.99? Nothing free that I can see???
That’s a common strategy for getting people to sign up for subscription services. Fewer people will continue a trial and convert it into a subscription if at the end they are cancelled out of it and asked for a credit card.
Its a method of signing up people, nothing nefarious about it. As you said it is a typical business strategy, and it is also ease of use for many people (they don’t want you constantly going back to a website to sign up for this and that again and again).
