So, is there an answer why connecting a bulb needs access to the internet instead of just wifi?
Almost all Wyze products need access to the Internet. They are driven by Wyze servers and the connected Wyze app on your handheld device. All signals to adjust the bulb come from remote Wyze servers and ONLY from there.
