4K Resolution

Under the 4k discussion, it would be cool if Wyze did something similar to what the Nest Cam IQ does “Supersight” where it has 4k sensor video rendering combined with HDR intelligence which increases quality when zooming (12x Zoom) but still uploads a 1080p as to not kill your internet or storage.

Although 4K would be nice, 4K at 15fps would be horrible. They really need to get the cams up to 60FPS and use h.265 for the video compression. If they had their cams at 1080p 60FPS with h.265 you would really need 4k but would probably still want 4K.

I don’t even need actual 4k saved/streamed - but if you had a 4k (or higher) CCD - you could “stream” at 360 or 720 or HD or whatever, but allow me to “optical zoom” - and blow up a smaller area so I could see in finer detail.

An option to monitor/record a region zoomed 4x (1080) for those don’t have the network bandwidth to support 4K. I installed my cameras on the second floor looking out and I can’t see the faces in my recording. I live on the second floor and cannot install the cameras on the first floor. I cannot install the cameras outside because I don’t want to run wires to outside and don’t want to change the camera batteries. I’m only want a specific area monitored anyways. I have more view than I needed from installing the cameras on the second floor. I am willing compromise the view for a clearer view in a smaller monitored area/region.

4K is very critical for security purpose -

when I need to be able to view from 50 ft away - a vehicle’s license plate, or a person’s face - with adequate clarity.

PoE and/or ability to stream to my NAS would work out perfectly.

I am seriously looking into 4k security cams now. They are Super expensive.

If Wyze has a 4k pan cam it will incredibly help.

Yes I feel that 4K is really a must… Now that i have been running 1080 for a while and notice that I cannot read a license plate on a car at the end of the driveway. 4K stored local on the sd card and uploads at 720 is perfectly fine. I you need to see what happened, then you go back to the footage on the card. I love Wyze as a company and their products. 100% a huge fan. I have set up Wyze for my parents, friends, and have quite a few here in my home. I would love to have at least one or two 4k to cover the street where a license plate would be helpful. The Wyze team are bright and innovative. They can easily figure this one out, if they wanted to. Would I pay more for a 4K, Definitely would pay quite a bit more, because I only need a couple 4K for my system. The 1080s are fine everywhere else. Thanks Wyze - I look forward to seeing a 4K from you.

Yes It’s just horrendous to see so many people are stealing delivery packages and drive away nowadays. Being able to read the license plate and the human face is a game changer. Those folks would be afraid to even drive near the property.

Having PoE support would allow fast saving to local hard drive at 4K.

The problem isn’t 4K like everyone believes. It is the fact is their compression is so bad that it turns 2080p into 240p. I have seen faces and signs on my tv for years and could read them. Even when they are small but my size cam can’t even though they claim HD. They are really not.

Sorry about that last email but correction got me. I meant 1080p and also it should have said Wyze cam not size cam.
Wake up people it is not 1080p capture at 30 frames a second.

That is very true. I wish Wyze would do this but, this most likely won’t happen for a while.

Wyze you should start working on a new camera with an upgraded camera I would start on a 4K Camera. The reason I say this is because 1080p is getting old. If you start working on a 2K Camera and release it in 2 years it will probably be behind time. Please work on a V3 Camera that can be plugged in or battery operated. PIR sensor and can record 24/7 if plugged in. Also Indoor or Outdoor please!! You will be releasing your Outdoor Camera soon but I am almost 100% sure it will be 1080p. If you want to get ahead of everyone else we need 4K. I LOVE what you guys are doing!! Thank you so much and keep up the good work!!

you should work for Wyze!!

Like I said a year ago, Sony had available a 4K sensor (read camera) that the actual cost for anyone to buy was $1-5 depending on who you bought it from. A bulk order would have gotten $1 or less per sensor. The Wyze cam already will use sd cards larger than most people will put in (I’ve used a 256GB card). Trouble most people have is they are buying a U1 card and expecting the performance of a U3 card. It is true that the compression is a problem. The new problem is that as more and more people add devices around you, the already overcrowded 2.4GHz space is now crowded to the point that a camera, that is 20ft from my high end router, drops connection many times a day and is now considered unreliable (wyze cam pan). Any resolution, regardless of framerates and compression is useless if it’s disconnected from your home network while it is in your home.

ye, but why would you need anyone’s license plate? LOL
Wake up Wyze!!

4k resolution would require a stronger data connection. Currently I have my cams all set to 360p so multiview works. Please go vote for Ethernet Support so we can have stable video feeds.

Because of a hit and run

Ye. I was being sarcastic.

Lol got it didn’t finish reading the second part of your sentence.

Yeah POE would be amazing. But then they’d need some sort of internal circuitry to drop the 48v to 5v. Still would be awesome. I imagine theres some PoE to micro usb power bricks… and a 2 second google search later:

But this is big and klunky, and only solves the power issue, not network connectivity. Would be great to have PoE so network and power is all taken care of.
